EDF Receives National Recognition for Economic Development Efforts

CoreNet Global names EDF a finalist for its 2005 Economic Development Leadership & Accomplishment Awards.

In March, CoreNet Global named the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation (EDF) a finalist for its 2005 Economic Development Leadership & Accomplishment Awards. The CoreNet award recognizes leadership, best practices and innovations in the field of economic development.

The association recognized EDF for its role in securing 18 on-site suppliers for the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas, Inc. plant in San Antonio. EDF was one of only five finalists for the major projects/deals award.

The 18 on-site suppliers are expected to employ 1,500 workers, an unprecedented number at any North American automotive plant. These 1,500 workers are in addition to the 2,000 that will be employed directly by the Toyota plant.

Final awards are given at the CoreNet Global Summit in April.
