  SA drivers enjoy short commutes

San Antonio drivers have one of the shortest commute times in Texas, according to new data released by the U.S. Census Bureau. On average, local drivers spent 22.5 minutes on the road between home and the office in 2003 – better than their commuting counterparts across the country and other Texas metro areas.

Dallas drivers typically spent 23.6 minutes in traffic, while Fort Worth drivers spent 22.8 minutes. In Houston, commute time jumps to almost 26 minutes.

The ranking of large cities with populations of 250,000 or more with the nation’s highest commute times includes: New York (38.3 minutes); Chicago (33.2 minutes); Newark, N.J. (31.5 minutes); Riverside, Calif. (31.2 minutes); Philadelphia (29.4 minutes); and Los Angeles (29.0 minutes).
