EDF wraps up another great year for San Antonio. During 2005, 16 companies announced new San Antonio facilities adding 6,885 jobs to the economy. The companies located in 2005 represent the diversity of industry attracted to San Antonio – including clinical laboratory services, additional suppliers for Toyota’s Tundra manufacturing plant, banking and finance.

One of the biggest developments in 2005 was the location of Washington Mutual’s regional operations center bringing 4,200 jobs to San Antonio. Washington Mutual’s decision to locate in San Antonio was the largest job creation project in America for 2005.

The National Security Agency’s Regional Cryptology Center was another major location development for 2005. Projected employment for the NSA is at 2,000.

In addition, EDF hosted 94 site visits from prospective companies, and had a list of 98 active prospects at the end of year 2005.
